Agronomic Services Division labs open doors to group tours

Group tours of three of the most widely used N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ Agronomic Services labs have resumed. Groups can book a tour for the nematode assay; plant, waste solution and media; and soil testing labs Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

N.C. Plant Conservation Board and Scientific Committee to meet Wednesday, Jan. 18

N.C. Pesticide Board announces recent case settlements

The N.C. Pesticide Board recently approved the following settlement agreements for cases in Carteret, Davidson, Duplin, Guilford, Lenoir, Macon, Mecklenburg, Nash, Orange, Pender, Pitt, Rowan and Washington counties.  Settlements are listed by county below:

70 stores pay fines for price scanning errors in 38 counties

The N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ Standards Division has collected fines from 70 stores in 38 counties because of excessive price-scanner errors.

Turnaround times for routine nematode testing expected to be long; molecular diagnosis of guava root-knot nematode will be given priority

The N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ Nematode Assay Lab is warning North Carolina growers to expect turnaround times of 15 weeks or longer for routine (predictive) nematode samples submitted this year. 

Equine infectious anemia found in NC horses

A horse in Surry County, has tested positive for equine infectious anemia over the past week.  A horse in Henderson county has also tested suspect for having EIA and is awaiting confirmatory test results from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
