Our Stories

The Property and Construction (P&C) assists North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Service Division to operate approximately 1,200 buildings and 118,000 acres of land at 394 locations in 99 counties across the state. The Division is divided into two sections, the Property Section and the Construction Section. The Property Section is responsible for oversight of real property assets specifically the land and buildings managed by NCDA&CS. The Construction Section is responsible for managing capital improvements and repair & renovations projects, providing expertise to facility managers and technical assistance to the agribusiness community.

The Midway Center will be a brand-new multi-story 30,000 square foot building that houses convention and event space, meeting rooms, and a multi-vendor food hall. The Center will serve as an event destination with multi-purpose meeting spaces and a full-service food hall. These two major programs will be separate and distinct from one another but will benefit from sharing a facility. The new space will support the fairgrounds by attracting people year-round.

In situ Studio is working on the renovation to the 1971 Gov. James E. Holshouser Building on the NC Fairgrounds. Scope of work will involve engineering and architecture services to upgrade utility services, replace roof, renovate bathrooms, renovate building envelope and renovate the building MEP systems to meet current and future needs. Design to be in accordance with SCO standards and comply with all ADA and life safety requirements

Provide specialized consulting service which involves design -bidding - construction administration and closeout services for the new construction of 4 buildings (approximately 9800 sq. ft each) for swine research and production at Tidewater Research Station, Plymouth, NC. The new research facility will have supporting infrastructures for breeding, gestation, farrowing and biosecurity services with division standards, ADA compliance, fire alarm removal and code compliance. This service will include planning and design for architectural, mechanical, electrical, land development/civil and plumbing engineering. Buildings will include pit swine facilities for management of manure. The facilities will use existing lagoon permitted at capacity of 298,000 lbs. steady state live weight of swine.   

The Welcome Center is the focal point for education and visitor contact. this center has adequate space for indoor classroom, visitor contact desk and staff offices. This building can also serve a meeting or training facility for N.C. Forest Service (NCFS), N.C. Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services, cooperating agencies, and non-governmental organizations.
