How to Become a Licensed UAV Pesticide Applicator

Aerial Applicator License

1. The requirement for this Commercial license is that you’ve passed the Aerial Methods exam, the Core exam, and all required Category exams.

2. In addition to the NC testing requirements being met, you must also be properly licensed by FAA or NCDOT to operate your aircraft in NC. FAA requirements or NCDOT requirements must be provided to the NCDA&CS prior to licenses being issued.
3. Once the required exams have been passed and you’ve provided the required FAA or NCDOT documents, you’ll need to send in the license application/s along with the licensing fee of $75 each.
   1. Aerial Applicator Apprentice, if you do NOT have 1 year and 125 hrs experience in the field of aerial pesticide application. Microsoft Word - ONLINE-form7-Apprentice029.rtf
   2. If you are licensed as an apprentice, your license will be converted to an 027 (Pilot) at whatever time you have met the experience requirement and you provide us with an application stating this.
   3. Your supervising Pilot will have to sign off on your experience for the license application to be processed.

      1. Aerial Contractor: Each aerial application business must have a licensed aerial contractor who is responsible for the compliance of the business with the NC Pesticide Law of 1971. If you are not going to place your Aerial applicator license under an existing NC Aerial Contractor, you can apply for, and become the contractor yourself; Microsoft Word - ONLINE-form5-CONTRACTOR028.rtf
      2. You will need to provide us with an FAA Part 137 Certificate or the appropriate waiver, prior to the Contractor license being issued.
