The N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ Standards Division has collected fines from 37 stores in 22 counties because of excessive price-scanner errors.“Our Standards Division closely watches stores to ensure that consumers are protected,” said Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler. “This is an important function to make sure North Carolinians are being charged the prices they see on shelves. While our work will continue, it is important for consumers to check their receipts regularly and notify store managers if they see a discrepancy.”

Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ Standards Division has collected fines from 61 stores in Alamance, Brunswick, Carteret, Catawba, Columbus, Forsyth, Franklin, Granville, Guilford, Harnett, Iredell, Johnston, Jones, Mecklenburg, Moore, Nash, Orange, Pamlico, Pasquotank, Pender, Perquimans, Randolph, Rockingham, Rowan, Scotland, Stanly, Union, Vance, Wake, Watauga, Wayne and Yadkin counties because of excessive price-scanner errors.

Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ Standards Division has collected fines from stores in Chowan, Columbus, Dare, New Hanover, Perquimans and Wayne counties because of excessive price-scanner errors. These stores represent eight of the 42 stores fined across North Carolina during the first quarter of 2022.

Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ Standards Division has collected fines from stores in Anson, Durham, Forsyth, Granville, Guilford, Moore, Johnston, Randolph, Stanly, Union, Vance and Wake counties because of excessive price-scanner errors. These stores represent 23 of the 42 stores fined across North Carolina during the first quarter of 2022.  
The N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ Standards Division has collected fines from stores in Camden, Chowan, Durham, Hertford, Nash, New Hanover, Moore, Randolph, Sampson, Surry, Union, Vance, Wake, Watauga, Wayne, and Yadkin counties because of excessive price-scanner errors.

 The N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ Standards Division has collected fines from four stores in Scotland and Wake Counties because of excessive price-scanner errors. “The price on the shelf and the price at the register should match,” said Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler. “Stores have a responsibility to make sure their pricing is accurate, and most stores pass inspection. Ones with errors face fines until they come into compliance.”
