Inspections and Compliance
Inspections
- Seed and Fertilizer Specialists provide regulatory inspections of seed and fertilizer offered for sale in North Carolina.
- Inspections are made at points of sale to assess compliance with North Carolina Seed Law, as well as the Fertilizer and Lime Laws and associated Rules & Regulations.
- Specialists are authorized to collect seed and fertilizer/lime samples for laboratory testing.
- Stop sale orders are issued for fertilizer, lime, and seed lots found to be out of compliance.
Compliance
- Per the North Carolina Commercial Fertilizer & Lime Law, if the laboratory analysis shows that any commercial fertilizer or lime falls short of the guaranteed analysis (§ 106-665. Plant food deficiency & § 106-92.16. Authority of Board of Agriculture to make rules and regulations. (4)(5)), penalties will be issued and collected from the manufacturer.
