Turnbull Creek Educational State Forest is located among Bladen County's numerous "Carolina Bays" -- mysterious land formations particular to this section of North Carolina's Coastal Plain. It is a managed forest that consists of a variety of timber types and stands, with longleaf pine being our signature forest feature. The longleaf pine ecosystem is native to this area and one of the most diverse forested ecosystems in North America. Turnbull Creek ESF also has a unique historical component, with displays and authentic relics of our rich naval stores history from colonial North Carolina.

Fees and Permits

Currently, there are no fees associated with use of any educational state forest. Permits are required for certain activities and special events. For more information about permitting requirements at Turnbull Creek ESF, contact the forest’s office.
