Stan Adams Training Facility

Located in Chatham County, the Stanford M. Adams Training Center at Jordan Lake Educational State Forest is surrounded by beautiful forestland and features hiking trails, wildlife viewing, picnic shelters and Jordan Lake. The training facility is open to all state and federal government agencies as well as other groups.

The Stanford M. Adams Training Center consists of one large classroom that can accommodate as many as 100 students or can be divided into two smaller units capable of holding as many as 50 students each. There is a conference room that can seat as many as 10 people for meetings. A small kitchenette is also available for storing and serving refreshments and snacks.

The facility is equipped with a full range of teaching aids and audiovisual equipment including:

  • audio and video equipment
  • whiteboards
  • flip charts with stands
  • laser pointers
  • wireless internet

In addition to the classrooms, the property is also well-suited for outdoor training, including:

  • environmental education
  • wildland firefighting training
  • search and rescue training
  • cross-country compass and map training
  • team building

From U.S. Highway 64, travel north on Big Woods Road for 2.8 miles to the entrance of Jordan Lake Educational State Forest. Turn right into the state forest and follow the dirt road for 0.3 miles. The road will end at the parking area for the Stan M. Adams Training Center.
