Gorgeous weather provided a perfect backdrop for the 2025 N.C. Mountain State Fair, which saw 161,059 people come through the gates. The final attendance was up 11,709 over 2024.
FLETCHER – Dana Peterson of Benson, took home Grand Champion honors in the recent Got to Be NC Whole Hog Barbecue Cook-off held at the N.C. Mountain State Fair in Fletcher. David Murray of Snow Hill placed second and Ralph LeGrand of Goldsboro finished in third place.
FLETCHER – Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler inducted longtime dairy goat exhibitor Marjorie Burton and longtime Western N.C. dairy farmer Mike Corn into the N.C. Mountain State Fair Livestock Hall of Fame during the fair’s opening weekend. These individuals were inducted for their decades of support to the fair and the livestock industry in Western North Carolina.
FLETCHER – The highly anticipated Got to Be NC Whole Hog Barbecue Cook-off series is returning to the Mountain State Fair on Saturday, Sept. 6, featuring some of the best barbecue teams for a beloved North Carolina tradition.
WHAT: Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler, Labor Commissioner Luke Farley, N.C. Mountain State Fair officials and others will discuss fairgrounds safety, traffic control, midway operations and animal exhibits.
There is still time to enter your submissions for this year’s N.C. Mountain State Fair exhibitions, and the free Pony Express program makes the process simple and convenient for residents in Western North Carolina.
The countdown is on with the N.C. Mountain State Fair just a month away. Six new entertainment acts will make their debuts at the fair, rounding out a thrilling lineup of fun, games, food, agriculture, rides and more. Back for its 31st year, the fair will run Sept. 5-14 at the WNC Agricultural Center in Fletcher.
FLETCHER – Come join the North Carolina Mountain State Fair team and be part of one of Western North Carolina’s premier fall events. The fair is looking to fill a number of temporary jobs, including ticket takers, ticket sellers, law enforcement/security and workers for the entry department and information booths. Pay ranges from $15-$16 an hour for ticket takers and general employees, to up to $50 an hour for sworn officers.
FLETCHER – Blue ribbons, bragging rights and prize money are up for grabs at the N.C. Mountain State Fair and the competition information is now online so people can start working on their entries. That includes preparing for a fun, new, in-person, day-of “Mullet & ‘Stache” competition on Sept. 6, where you can fatten your wallet with your winning mullet or earn some cash for your fabulous ‘stache.
