COLFAX – Enjoying the sweet taste of watermelon on a hot summer day is a favorite activity for many North Carolinians. Shoppers at the Robert G. Shaw Piedmont Triad Farmers Market are invited to celebrate that summer tradition during N.C. Watermelon Day on Friday, July 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Piedmont Triad Farmers Market. The N.C. Watermelon Association, the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and the Got to Be NC program are hosting the event. 
            

RALEIGH – Celebrate one of the state's favorite summer traditions during North Carolina Watermelon Day on Thursday, July 23, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the State Farmers Market in Raleigh. North Carolina’s sweetest summer tradition is back as the State Farmers Market in Raleigh invites shoppers to celebrate North Carolina Peach Day on Friday, July 10, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will highlight one of the state’s signature summer crops with free peach samples, fresh local peaches and an opportunity to connect directly with the farmers who grow them.

The Robert G. Shaw Piedmont Triad Farmers Market will celebrate one of North Carolina’s sweetest summer traditions during North Carolina Peach Day on Thursday, July 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will feature free peach samples, a Peach Recipe Contest, an opportunity to meet the N.C. Peach Queen and plenty of fresh, locally grown peaches straight from North Carolina farms.

CHARLOTTE – Summer is in full swing, and the Charlotte Regional Farmers Market is celebrating with Watermelon Day on Sunday, June 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Highlighting one of North Carolina’s favorite summer crops, visitors can taste fresh watermelon samples provided by the N.C. Watermelon Queen, check out giveaways from Got to Be NC and experience a day of family-friendly fun. 

            CHARLOTTE – Fresh-picked flavor, sweet summer treats and family fun come together at the Charlotte Regional Farmers Market for Blueberry Day on Sunday, May 31, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
            Visitors can enjoy free blueberry samples, kid-friendly activities and a variety of blueberry-inspired desserts from market bakers while shopping for fresh, local products from North Carolina farmers and vendors.

COLFAX – The North Carolina Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services will host Hogtoberfest, a family-friendly fall festival, on Saturday, Oct. 4, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Robert G. Shaw Piedmont Triad Farmers Market.

RALEIGH – This year’s annual State Farmers Market Largest Watermelon Contest had a special meaning as it was held in memory of longtime watermelon contest competitor Donald Murphy, who passed away earlier this year. Known for his knowledge and expertise in growing a large watermelon each year, Murphy was a familiar face at the contest and on Watermelon Day.
