State Fair with its agricultural exhibits and competitions, thrilling rides, arts and crafts, giant pumpkins and fabulous foods. The annual October tradition has been a part of many family memories for generations, proving that “There’s no time like Fair time.”

RALEIGH – There’s no time like fair time, and it’s almost time for the 2025 N.C. State Fair. This weekend is the last weekend for the flea market before the fairgrounds close to the public to allow for fair preparations. The Raleigh Market will close at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 28, and will re-open at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8.
RALEIGH – The North Carolina Restaurant & Lodging Association has announced the winners of the 2025 Chef Showdown, the sate’s premier culinary and mixology competition presented by the Got to Be NC program. The annual event brings together top chefs, pastry chefs, mixologists and distilleries from across North Carolina to compete for top honors.
Gorgeous weather provided a perfect backdrop for the 2025 N.C. Mountain State Fair, which saw 161,059 people come through the gates. The final attendance was up 11,709 over 2024.

State Fair, now is the time to enter before registration closes on Monday, Sept. 15.“Our competitions highlight the talents of the people of North Carolina, “said Kent Yelverton, director, N.C. State Fair. “For most of the competitions, entry drop off is the weekend before the Fair starts on Oct. 16. If you are planning to enter something into one of the hundreds of categories of competitions we have at the Fair, this is the last weekend to do it before entries close at midnight on Monday, Sept. 15.”
