RALEIGH – The first group of checks have been sent to farmers who applied for disaster assistance through the 2024 Ag Disaster Crop Loss, with more to follow in the coming weeks, said Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler in announcing the first group of payments. The first round of checks was sent to farmers in Western N.C.
RALEIGH – Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler released the following statement regarding Gov. Josh Stein’s issuance of Executive Order No. 20 in preparation for Hurricane Erin and anticipated significant impacts. “North Carolina’s farm community is no stranger to dealing with hurricanes and know what needs to be done ahead of the storm to help limit damage. The waiving of some motor vehicle regulations related to agriculture is a big help to farmers readying their farms for bad weather.
“We are certainly tickled to be selected as a regional hub,” said Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler. “We have a long-standing partnership with USDA with National Agricultural Statistics Service offices housed in our building for many years, and we look forward to continuing to build on this partnership. We will work with them on whatever they need.
RALEIGH – The deadline for farmers to apply for the Agricultural Disaster Crop Loss Program for losses in 2024 has been extended to May 19 by the N.C. General Assembly. Farmers who suffered crop losses from Hurricane Helene, Tropical Storm Debby and drought and other weather-related conditions in 2024 are eligible to apply.

RALEIGH — N.C. Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler encourages communities impacted by Hurricane Helene to apply for the Emergency Watershed Protection (EWP) program, which responds to emergencies created by natural disasters. It is not necessary for a national emergency to be declared for an area to be eligible for assistance.
