RALEIGH – The N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is hosting a series of job fairs across eastern North Carolina to hire seasonal workers to grade peanuts during the upcoming harvest season. These job fairs are an opportunity for individuals seeking short-term employment to play a critical role in the state’s agricultural sector.
FLETCHER – Come join the North Carolina Mountain State Fair team and be part of one of Western North Carolina’s premier fall events. The fair is looking to fill a number of temporary jobs, including ticket takers, ticket sellers, law enforcement/security and workers for the entry department and information booths. Pay ranges from $15-$16 an hour for ticket takers and general employees, to up to $50 an hour for sworn officers.
RALEIGH – Eleven stores in eight counties were fined by the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ Standards Division for price scanning errors during the second quarter of 2025.
COLFAX – Peaches are now in season in North Carolina and the Robert G. Shaw Piedmont Triad Farmers Market will be celebrating all their sweet flavor with Peach Day Friday, July 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

NC Halal in Mount Olive is voluntarily recalling all whole lamb carcasses that were processed on June 25, 2025 due to inadequate processing records.“Inspectors with the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ Meat and Poultry Inspection Division noted that processing records did not include product temperatures as required by the establishment’s food safety plan,” said Dr. Karen Beck, director of the NCDA&CS Meat and Poultry Inspection Division.

The N.C. Forest Service will begin accepting orders Tuesday, July 1, for its annual tree seedling sale. With an average annual production of 10 million seedlings, the NCFS Nursery Program produces enough native and genetically improved tree seedlings to plant roughly 18,700 acres of land.
