New Stamp Requirements - July 1, 2026

North Carolina now requires that licensees purchase their weighmaster stamp from a vendor of their choice after receiving their license from the Department. The following information must be on the weighmaster stamp for it to be legally valid:

• The words “North Carolina Public Weighmaster”
• The Weighmaster’s Name
• The Weighmaster’s assigned license number
• The expiration date of the Weighmaster’s license

Remember: The weighmaster must sign the weight certificate upon issuance for it to be valid.

In addition, it is now law that when stamping weight tickets using an electronic weighmaster stamp, the Weighmaster’s signature must be captured using either:

• Software that requires the user to sign in prior to adding the electronic signature to the certificate, or
• An electronic signature pad that captures the signature live and then transfers it to the certificate.
