Summer Fest is NCDA&CS’ take on celebrating all things local. The variety of N.C. produce is as bright as confetti… and that’s worth celebrating. Corn, watermelon, tomatoes, peaches, you name it!There will be free watermelon slices, free peach samples, free tomato sandwiches and free corn recipe cards. The variety of summer produce harvested in North Carolina is abundant.The Summer Fest has something for the whole family! There will be blueberry coloring pages and potato stamps for the kids.

Comment period reopened on guidelines for the N.C. Agricultural Manufacturing and Processing Initiative

RALEIGH – Thirteen budding artists were recently chosen as winners in the annual Farm to School Calendar Contest, sponsored by the North Carolina Grange. Each month depicts the art of a student and represents a different commodity. The calendar also includes daily facts about agriculture, giving students an understanding of agriculture's role in food production.

Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler will make a brief ag economic impact announcement and comments and have media availability prior to the 1 p.m. Tractor Parade that officially opens the Got to Be NC Festival. Media will have an opportunity to capture two news stories at one event.

 RALEIGH – North Carolina’s wine industry ranks among the top 10 nationally in production, and each May, the 190-plus wineries come together to celebrate with tasting rooms across the state hosting special events and promotions throughout the month.  

RALEIGH – Applications are now being accepted for the N.C. Agriculture Manufacturing and Processing Initiative, which has been created to fund and promote the establishment of value-added agricultural manufacturing and food processing facilities in North Carolina.

Three members of the University of North Carolina women’s basketball team will promote the benefits of chocolate milk as a sports recovery drink and support the farmers who make up the state’s dairy industry through a unique NIL partnership announced by the N.C. Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services and The Brandr Group. This marks one of the first NIL agreements involving a state agency in North Carolina.
