WHO/WHAT: The Agricultural Development and Farmland Preservation Trust Fund will hold an advisory committee meeting to:
•    Review the trust fund budget and open grantee contracts.
•    Hear trust fund reports on open conservation easement projects; county program maps and updates; grant monitoring and stewardship updates; and an easement status report involving recent and upcoming closings.

The application period for county governments and conservation nonprofit groups to apply for farmland preservation grants from the N.C. Agricultural Development and Farmland Preservation Trust Fund opens Oct. 14. Applicants have until Jan. 17, 2025, to apply.

RALEIGH – Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler today presented the North Carolina Friends of Farmland Award to Wake County for its innovative farmland preservation initiatives that have already preserved 238 acres of farmland.

RALEIGH – The N.C. Agricultural Development and Farmland Preservation Trust Fund recently awarded over $15 million to protect working farms and forests, support county farmland preservation efforts and promote agricultural enterprises. 
    More than $12.8 million went towards securing 46 agricultural conservation easements on 5,000 acres of land across the state. These family farms will be permanently protected from development, becoming North Carolina Forever Farms. 

The Farmland Preservation Division of the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services announced new initiatives to celebrate farmland preservation efforts across the state.

NC Forever Farms is a program that recognizes family farms that have taken the ultimate step in protecting precious working lands that are vital to the future of agriculture in North Carolina. Through permanent agricultural conservation easements, these NC Forever Farms will always be protected from development and the threat of conversion.
