Online Structural Exams

Online Structural exams are only offered for the Certified Applicator (CA) level exams, which enables you to either obtain a Structural Pest Control Certified Applicator Card or recertify your License/CA Card. You must preregister for an exam by completing the online exam registration form. If choosing to recertify by examination, choose the Recertification option in the "Type of Exam" box. Email completed registration form to StructuralExams@ncagr.gov. Standard NCDA&CS exam fees still apply, but an additional $26 is charged per exam to cover the online testing service fee.   

Please review the Online Exam Guidelines prior to registering for any online Structural Pest Control Exam.

Please refer to Structural Licensing and Certification section for exam prerequisites. Certified Applicator examinees who attended an approved equivalent Registered Technician program must include their NCDA&CS completion certificate with the exam registration form.

Certified Applicator (CA) level exams are multiple choice exams in the following categories:

  • Core exam
  • P phase CA exam
  • W phase CA exam
  • F phase CA exam

To be eligible to receive a CA card you must pass the Core exam and at least one phase exam, prior to sending in the Certified Applicator Card Application.

The total fee for the Core exam is $26, while each attempt of a CA level phase exam (P, W, or F) is $51.

Recertification exam(s) are offered as an alternative to recertifying your CA card or License through CCUs coursework. Applicators are eligible to recertify by examination starting on January 1st of the last year of the recertification period. If exam(s) are attempted in the January 1st - June 30th period, you are only required to pass the CA level phase exam(s) matching the phase(s) on your credential card. From July 1st to December 31st (immediately after your credential expiration date), you are required to pass the CA level phase exam(s) matching the phase(s) on your credential card PLUS the CA level Core exam.

The total fee for the Core exam is $26, while each attempt of a CA level phase exam (P, W, or F) is $51.

In-Person Structural Exams

In-person Certified Applicator (CA) exams are typically offered three times a month - once in Raleigh, once east of Raleigh, and once west of Raleigh. Structural License exams are only offered in person once a month at our main office in Raleigh. You must preregister for an exam by completing the registration form and e-mailing it to StructuralExams@ncagr.gov. The form must be received at least ten (10) days prior to the exam date, or we may be unable to accommodate your request. 

All exam fees will be collected on the day of exam; checks or money orders payable to NCDA&CS are the only acceptable forms of payment at this time. Receipts will be provided upon request.

Please refer to Structural Licensing and Certification section for exam prerequisites. Certified Applicator examinees who attended an approved equivalent Registered Technician program must include their NCDA&CS completion certificate with the exam registration form.

Pre-approval must be received before you are allowed to register for a Structural License exam; see Structural Pest Control Licensee tab for additional information. 

Structural License exams are multiple choice exams in the following categories:

  • P phase license exam
  • W phase license exam
  • F phase license exam

To be eligible to receive a Structural Pest Control License you must pass at least one license level phase exam, prior to sending in the Structural License Card Application

The fee for each attempt of a License phase exam (P, W, or F) is $50.

We offer an opportunity to review unsuccessful exam attempt(s) through NCDA&CS Exam Review

Recertification exam(s) are offered as an alternative to recertifying your CA card or License through CCU coursework. Applicators are eligible to recertify by examination between January 1st and June 30th of the last year of your 5-year recertification period. If exam(s) are attempted during this period, you are only required to pass the CA level phase exam(s) matching the phase(s) on your credential card. From July 1st to December 31st (immediately after your credential expiration date), you are required to pass the CA level phase exam(s) matching the phase(s) on your credential card PLUS the CA level Core exam.

There is no fee for taking the Core exam, but each attempt of a CA level phase exam (P, W, or F) has a $25 fee.
