NCDA&CS to host workshops aimed at farmers market managers

The N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services will host workshops for farmers market managers March 4 in Winston-Salem and March 18 in Mount Olive.

“With more than 250 farmers markets across the state, it is easy for consumers to connect with local farmers in their community,” said Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler. “Our farmers market workshops make it easy for local managers to learn best practices, share success stories and discover new resources to make their local markets even better.”

The workshops will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The agendas will include presentations on grant funding, digital marketing and social media. There also will be an overview of payment options available to market vendors, as well as small group discussions and networking opportunities. The cost is $20 and includes lunch.

The March 4 workshop will be held at the Forsyth County Cooperative Extension Center in Winston-Salem.

The workshop on March 18 will be held in the Holmes and Lois Murphy Regional Center at the University of Mount Olive in Mount Olive. Registration is due March 11.

A complete agenda and registration forms are available at www.ncagr.gov/markets/agribiz. For more information about the workshop, contact NCDA&CS marketing specialist Kevin Hardison at 919-707-3123 or kevin.hardison@ncagr.gov.
