Watermelon season is here and the sweet and juicy melon will be the featured commodity at the state-operated farmers markets in July and August. Visitors can enjoy a free slice of watermelon while at the market.
Following are the dates, location and times of Watermelon Days:

• July 13, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Charlotte Farmers Market
• July 20, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Western N.C. Farmers Market, Asheville
• Aug. 2, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., State Farmers Market, Raleigh
• Aug. 3, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Piedmont Triad Farmers Market, Colfax
