Commissioner Troxler elected SASDA president
Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler recently was elected president of the Southern Association of State Departments of Agriculture. He will serve a one-year term.
SASDA’s membership is composed of the agriculture departments of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, U.S. Virgin Islands, Virginia and West Virginia. The organization is a regional arm of the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture.
As president, Troxler will work to build consensus among member states on agricultural policy issues and communicate SASDA’s policy recommendations to NASDA. He also serves on the board of NASDA and chairs that organization’s Tobacco Task Force and Food Regulation and Nutrition Committee.
North Carolina will be the host state for SASDA’s annual meeting in June 2011.
