Food marketing work-shop offered Jan. 12 in Asheville

Food entrepreneurs can learn more about marketing their products or expanding their business through a one-day workshop offered by the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

“Food Marketing in the Real World” will take place Jan. 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. in Room 128 in the Haynes Building on the A-B Tech Enka Campus in Asheville.

The workshop will cover a variety of topics, including creating a competitive advantage, understanding the difference between sales and marketing, knowing when to make the move from part-time to professional, marketing to food service and retail, and understanding the financial considerations of expanding a business. In addition, a panel of successful food entrepreneurs will talk about how they built their businesses.

The workshop costs $30, which covers materials and lunch. The deadline to register is Jan. 4, and space is limited to 40 people. For a registration form, go to www.ncagr.gov/markets/agbizmarketing.htm, or call Annette Dunlap in the NCDA&CS Marketing Division at (919) 733-7887.
