Century Farm Family Reunion to be held Oct. 23 at State Fair
A reunion of the state’s Century Farm Family members will be held Thursday, Oct. 23, at the State Fairgrounds. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and the program starts at 9:30 a.m.
The program recognizes farms that have been in continuous family ownership for 100 years or more. To be included, a family must submit an application outlining the history of family ownership.
The Century Farm program started in 1970 and there are about 1,600 North Carolina farms in the program.
Century Farm applications can be obtained online at www.ncagr.gov/paffairs/century/application.htm or by calling the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Public Affairs Division at (919) 733-4216.
Ownership can be determined from an abstract from a title or original records such as the original deed or land patents. In some cases, other authentic land records are acceptable.
Century Farm Family reunions are held every three years during the N.C. State Fair.
