NCDA&CS encourages groups to organize hay loads
In communities across the state, civic groups, cattle and horse clubs, churches, Cooperative Extension offices and other groups have expressed an interest in organizing shipments of hay for livestock owners who may not need a full load.
The N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services encourages this cooperation to help meet the needs of farmers and ranchers.
Groups who organize loads of hay as Community Partners will be able to apply for Ag/Equine Partners transportation cost-share reimbursements for the livestock owners who purchase hay through their efforts.
Groups interested in becoming a Community Partner can learn more by calling the Hay Alert hotline at 1-866-506-6222 weekdays or logging on to www.ncagr.com/HayAlert/CommunityPartners.htm.
