The NC Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (NCDA&CS) cover many aspects of everyday life. The agency has 15 different divisions, which provide services to farmers and consumers. NCDA&CS offer positions ranging from Agriculture Microbiologist to Weed Specialist. With such broad services provided, numerous degrees and experience are needed. Therefore, we would like to provide you the opportunity of hands-on experience through our agency internship program.
The NCDA&CS Internship program is designed to provide you, the student, an opportunity to explore the work environment as it may complement your classroom education. The program is intended to allow you to observe a career path while continuing your education and providing you the opportunity to ask questions regarding specific courses or training which may be beneficial to one interested in a specific position or field of study.
The internship program recruits throughout the school year, as well as the summer, for interested college students. Internships are listed below and are updated frequently. As you may notice, Internships may be paid or unpaid. If salary is not listed, students are encouraged to seek academic credit for the internship. The Human Resources Internship coordinator will work with you and your career service administrator to coordinate these efforts.
Eligibility for Internship with NCDA&CS are as follows:
- Attend an accredited college, university, community college, or technical institute
- Sophomore Status
- Cumulative minimum GPA of 2.0
Students must complete/provide the following: a state application (PD107), cover letter, copy of transcript (unofficial may be accepted – although official copy is required if selected). (Résumés may be attached, however, application must be completed; “See resume” will not be accepted). Please be specific when applying and list the position that may be of interest. If you are interested in more than one position, please submit a separate application, cover letter and transcript for each.
