Exams and Schools

Online Exams Available Now

** The exam registration portal closes 48 hours before the exam date. Please call the office to sign up for the exam and to find out if space is available**

We are resuming in-person exams.  Attendance is limited. These exams are only available to those who register, WALK-INS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO SIT FOR AN EXAM. Only checks and money orders will be accepted for payment - NO CASH. Testers will need to bring their own pencils and calculators (you cannot use your phone as a calculator). If you are experiencing any symptoms of illness, or if you are considered an “at risk” individual, for your safety and for others’, please do not come to the exam. Our inspectors reserve the right to turn you away if you choose not to follow these restrictions. Registration can be found through the link below.

2023 In-Person Exam Schedule

Due to the limited seating capacity of exams, if you are registered for an exam and are unable to attend, you must notify the Pesticide Section at least 48 hours in advance or you will not be eligible to attend another exam for 60 days.

*If you are trying to sign up for a pesticides school and exam please click here to register with NC Pesticides Saftey Education Program with NC State.

*If you are trying to register for the Exam only during a Pesticides School and the date of the school is blank; the exam is FULL.

*Any time the date option is blank, the exam is FULL or registration for the exam is CLOSED.

 

Call NCDA & CS / Pesticide Section (919)733-3556 to confirm what exams are needed. Registration is available online or by phone.

Four pesticide exams are now available in Spanish: Private Applicator, Core, Ornamental and Turf, and Right of Way.

ALL EXAMS BEGIN AT 1 P.M. unless otherwise noted. Exams are also held the second day of each School.

Please note:

  • Exam fees must be paid for by check or money order - NO CASH or credit/debit cards are accepted at this time.
  • Government issued photo identification, such as a driver's license, must be shown at the time of the exam.
  • Please bring a number 2 pencil and a hand held calculator.
  • Cellphone or PDA use will not be permitted.
  • All government employees must know the correct name and mailing address of the agency for which they work.
