A series of booklets, "Aquaculture in North Carolina -- Inputs, Outputs, and Economics," are available for the following species below. The publications were prinited in early 2000, so many of the inputs will need updating to reflect current operating costs and expenses. Each booklet gives general statistics and information on the species production cycle and estimates on investment costs and operating costs and returns. The series is designed to aid individuals looking into the possibility of starting an aquaculture operation, and for lenders. Publications and spreadsheets reflect only on assumptions and will vary from actual production operations.

More information about aquauculture can be found online through the Southern Regional Aquaculture Center (SRAC). SRAC hosts several Fact Sheets on their site to provide information on important species of fish and shellfish produced in the Southern Region. The fact sheets are reviewed annually by the Publications, Videos, and Computer Software Steering Committee and are revised when significant new information becomes available on the subject. Any that have not been revised are considered to represent the essential state of available knowledge.
