Welcome to the North Carolina Farmed Cervid Program. North Carolina has a history of farming deer that dates back several decades. While relatively young compared to other states, North Carolina is a great place to have and raise deer. There are several species of Cervidae located throughout the state, and include Whitetail, Elk, Muntjac, Axis, Fallow, and Piere David deer. The general assembly gave authority to the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services to manage the program in 2015. If you would like to become a deer farmer, the process is simple and there is no registration fee. Many questions can be answered by clicking on the FAQ section. If you have questions or would like to speak to a program representative, give us a call at 919-707-3250 or via email at farmedcervid@ncagr.gov.
