Agricultural Statistics - Weather & Crops Report:
For the week ending October 11, 2009


GENERAL: The state received some rain last week with the majority falling in the southern portion of the state.  Precipitation ranged from no rain to 1.72 inches in Maxton.  Average temperatures were above normal, ranging from 61 to 71 degrees.  There were 5.2 days suitable for field work, compared to 5.4 for the previous week.  Statewide soil moisture levels were rated at 1% very short, 13% short, 71% adequate, and 15% surplus.  Activities during the week included harvesting corn, tobacco, peanuts, apples, and tending to livestock.
