Agricultural Statistics - Weather & Crops Report:
For the week ending August 30, 2009

 


GENERAL: The majority of the state remained relatively dry last week, with precipitation ranging from 0.01 inches in High Point to 5.35 inches in Lumberton.  Average temperatures ranged from 66 to 81 degrees. There were 5.5 days suitable for field work, unchanged from the previous week. Statewide soil moisture levels were rated at 4% very short, 17% short, 70% adequate, and 9% surplus.  Activities during the week included harvesting corn, tobacco, peaches, and cutting hay.
