LP Gas Concerns > Turkey Fryers

Richard Fredenburg, LP-Gas Engineer

SAFETY CONCERNS ABOUT USING TURKEY FRYERS

Three noted organizations have expressed their opinions that using turkey fryers can easily be unsafe. They have shown that fires can be caused, that extremely hot surfaces can be touched, and that the pot of hot oil can be easily toppled, causing significant and possibly life threatening injuries and extreme property damage. The taste of a fried turkey is a delight for many people during winter holidays and on summer special occasions. Don't let a substandard fryer or a lapse in safety vigilance turn your special time into a tragedy.

Underwriters Laboratories (UL) did some testing of turkey fryers. Click here to be taken to their Product Safety Tips on Turkey Fryers.

The Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued Safety Tips for Turkey Fryers.

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) discourages the use of turkey fryers. Click here to read their press release.

We strongly encourage you to use extreme caution if you decide to cook with a turkey fryer. Please look at these cautions from these consumer oriented organizations and follow their recommendations carefully.
