Eighth annual Ag Forum takes place Thursday

WHO/WHAT:

The eighth annual Ag Development Forum, featuring keynote speaker Nick Piggott, agricultural economist at N.C. State University. He will give an agricultural economic and policy outlook for 2013.

Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler also will deliver his annual State of Agriculture address. In addition, representatives of N.C. agribusinesses will share stories of how they succeeded in bringing local foods to market.

WHEN: Thursday, Jan. 31, 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
WHERE: Holshouser Building, State Fairgrounds, Raleigh
SCHEDULE*:

9:30 a.m. — Nick Piggott, “Agricultural Economic and Policy Outlook”

10:25 — “Local Food from Field to Market: Success Stories from N.C. Agribusinesses,” featuring Eddie Moore of Moore Brothers Beef, Bill Graban of Prime Lumber, Courtney Tellefsen of The Produce Box, Sally Eason of Sunburst Trout Farms and Dick McKellogg of Lowes Foods.

11:55 — Presentation of N.C. Exporter of the Year Award

Noon — Commissioner Troxler’s State of Agriculture address

12:30 p.m. — End
