| OTHER INFO: |
DuPont State Recreational Forest contains 10,400 acres in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The forest contains five lakes and the Little River runs through the forest, with four major waterfalls along its course. The forest has more than 80 miles of roads and trails that are shared by hikers, mountain bikers and equestrians.
DuPont is one of two demonstration forests operated by the N.C. Forest Service across the state. In addition, the service operates six educational state forests to teach the public about the forest environment. In July, the General Assembly transferred the N.C. Forest Service to the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
