Pony Express picks up Mountain State Fair
entries in 12 western counties
FLETCHER -- The Pony Express service makes it easy for craftsmen, artists, food preservationists and others in 12 Western North Carolina counties to enter their handiwork in the N.C. Mountain State Fair competitions.
Anyone interested in entering non-perishable items can drop them off at their local extension office before Aug. 19. Below is a list of participating county extension offices:

Entries should be wrapped and packaged securely for transport. Each package should be labeled with the entrant’s name and county of residence, and have a completed entry form attached.
Staff from the N.C. Cooperative Extension and Mountain State Fair will transport entries to the fair for free, where they will be judged and displayed. Entries will be returned to extension offices no later than Sep. 23.
Any prize money won will be mailed directly to the winners, provided they include their Social Security Number on their entry form.
The Entry and Award Catalog details the rules, deadlines, cash prizes and judging criteria for each contest. Printed copies of the catalog can also be picked up at the WNC Ag Center in Fletcher or the WNC Farmers Market on Brevard Road in Asheville.
