Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler will play host to about 300 food manufacturers and retailers, farmers, scientists and regulators at the seventh annual Commissioner’s Food Safety Forum.

Food safety experts from the Food and Drug Administration, Cornell University and the University of California at Davis will be the keynote speakers.

8:40 a.m. — David Elder, director of regional operations with FDA, “Food Safety Modernization Act”

9:10 a.m. — Dr. Bob Gravani, director of the National Good Agricultural Practices Program at Cornell University, “GAPs and the Impact on Food Safety”

9:45 a.m. — Bonnie Fernandez-Fenaroli, executive director of the Center for Produce Safety at the University of California at Davis, “Industry Efforts Targeting Food Safety”

10:30 a.m. — Panel discussion, “Task Force in Time of Crisis,” with representatives from government, industry and academia.

11:30 a.m. — Commissioner Troxler will give an update on food safety in North Carolina
