State Farmers Market to host Gourd Day

The State Farmers Market will host its annual Gourd Day, featuring a variety of decorative, functional and edible gourd products for purchase. Members of the N.C. Gourd Society, the oldest chapter of the American Gourd Society, will be on hand at the free event to answer questions about growing and using gourds. Visitors also can take home a free packet of gourd seeds to plant.

The Farmers Building will be in full bloom with more vendors selling flowers, herbs, shrubs, trees, perennials and vegetable plants. In addition, visitors can find a large selection of locally grown produce, meats and cheeses; shop for unique N.C. products at the Market Shoppes; purchase housing and gardening decorations at Market Imports and eat at the State Farmers Market Restaurant or N.C. Seafood Restaurant.
