Water Wars joins midway lineup at Mountain State Fair
FLETCHER — Rain is typically not welcome at the Mountain State Fair. But this year, water is a featured attraction at the event, which opens Sept. 10 at the WNC Ag Center.
Water Wars makes its debut at the fair on Saturday, Sept. 11, and will be there daily through Sept. 19. In the game, opponents go to their battle stations armed with a bucket of water balloons and a balloon launcher. Then they let loose a barrage of balloons to see who has the best aim.
“This should be a fun addition to the carnival lineup, especially if the weather is hot like it has been most of the summer,” said Matt Buchanan, fair manager.
Drew Expositions will operate the midway at the Mountain State Fair for the second consecutive year. Drew will bring popular attractions such as the chairlift, the Seattle wheel and the Enterprise, which spins riders as it moves from a horizontal position to a vertical position. There will be plenty of kid-friendly rides and games, too.
The N.C. Mountain State Fair takes place Sept. 10-19. Discount advance tickets are on sale now at the WNC Ag Center, the WNC Farmers Market and at all western North Carolina Ingles stores. For more information, visit www.mountainfair.org or call (828) 687-1414.
