Got to Be NC Big Cart rolls into Chadbourn Saturday for Strawberry Festival
RALEIGH — The Got to Be NC Big Cart will make a return appearance at the North Carolina Strawberry Festival in Chadbourn Saturday, May 1.
The 13-foot tall grocery cart will appear in the festival parade at 2 p.m. It will carry Miss North Carolina Katherine Southard, the parade’s grand marshal.
“It’s an honor for the Big Cart to take part in such a wonderful celebration of North Carolina agriculture and to host such a distinguished guest in Miss North Carolina,” said Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler. “Like this festival, the Big Cart draws a lot of attention to North Carolina agriculture, and we’re proud to be a part of this great event.”
The Big Cart is a promotional tool for the Got to Be NC Agriculture marketing program of the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. The giant grocery cart measures more than 15 feet long and is powered by a Chevrolet 396 engine fitted with long racing pipes.
The festival will feature many activities, including live entertainment, bands, clowns, hot air balloons and plenty of strawberry short cake. More information is online at www.ncstrawberryfestival.com.
