RALEIGH – This weekend the State Fairgrounds will host several events, including the weekend staple, the Raleigh Flea Market, which re-opens Saturday, Nov. 6.
The flea market operates from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays except during the month of October, when the annual State Fair is held. The market will also be open on the day after Thanksgiving, Friday, Nov. 26, to accommodate holiday shoppers. As one of the largest flea markets in the Southeast, the Raleigh Flea Market features hundreds of dealers and crafters, and offers free public parking.
In addition to the flea market, the following events are scheduled for this weekend: the Alzheimer’s Association of Eastern N.C. “Candlelight Reflections” event, Nov. 4 in Dorton Arena; the Capital Area Handbell Festival, Nov. 5 and 6 in the Kerr Scott Building; the Junior Woman’s Club Fall Furniture Consignment Sale, Nov. 5-7 in the Holshouser Building; the 26th Annual Neuse River Train and Railroadiana Show and Sale, Nov. 6 and 7 in the Expo Building; the Estate Firearms Auction, Nov. 6 in Dorton Arena; and the Triangle Farms N.C. Hunter/Jumper Association Indoor Horse Show, Nov. 5-7 at the Hunt Horse Complex.
Visitors on Sunday, Nov. 7, should be aware of temporary road closures near the Fairgrounds, due to the City of Oaks Marathon. Portions of Blue Ridge Road near Gate 11 will be closed from 7 a.m. to noon to accommodate race participants. The Hillsborough Street exit of the I-440 Beltline and a section of Hillsborough Street east of Blue Ridge Road will also be closed. Fairgrounds visitors are encouraged to take Wade Avenue to Edwards Mill Road to access the fairgrounds through Gate 9 on Trinity Road. Trinity and Youth Center roads and Hillsborough Street west of Blue Ridge Road will remain open all day Sunday.
