Benson woman receives NCDA&CS Employee of the Month honor
RALEIGH – Linda Bond of Benson was given the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services May Employee of the Month honor by Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler. She celebrated her fifth anniversary with the department in March.
Bond is an accounting technician for both the department’s Marketing Division, which manages programs such as Got to Be NC and Goodness Grows in N.C. campaigns that promote North Carolina agriculture, and the National Agriculture Statistics Service (NASS), a cooperative program that collects statistical data through on-farm and telephone surveys. In addition to these dual accountant roles, Bond also manages general office duties, audits and payroll support, and assists with special events executed by the marketing staff.
“Linda bridges the gap between our marketing minds and the practical financial requirements of the accounting division,” said Tom Slade, director of marketing. “She goes the extra mile for our marketing staff, vendors and outside customers.”
Bond moved to North Carolina nearly eight years ago from the east coast of Florida, where she enjoyed watching shuttle launches from her back yard. She spends her free time with her three daughters and two grandchildren. Her daughter Jessica Bond works in the NCDA&CS Food and Drug Protection Division.
