State Farmers Market to host Gourd Day Aug. 9

WHAT:	Get a head start on fall holiday decorations at the State Farmers Market’s annual Gourd Day Saturday, Aug. 9. Traditional, innovative and whimsical gourd art of all shapes and sizes will be on display. A large variety of gourds and gourd seeds, as well as information and tips on growing, will also be available.
WHEN:	Saturday, Aug. 9 9 a.m. — 4 p.m.
WHERE:	Farmers Building State Farmers Market 1201 Agriculture St. Interstate 40, exit 297, Lake Wheeler Road
WHO:	Gourd Day is sponsored by N.C. Gourd Society, the State Farmers Market and the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Sciences.
MORE INFO:	Crafters inspired by the gourd art can test their skills in any of the six gourd categories of the N.C. State Fair’s Handicrafts and Hobbies department, including gourd jewelry, gourd animals and even gourd birdhouses.
