RALEIGH – Eight members of the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Print Shop were recently honored as N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Employees of the Month. The team was recognized for consistently producing high-quality work in a timely manner, including a number of high-profile and award-winning publications.
“Recognizing the print shop members for their dedication is long overdue,” said Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler. “The volume and quality of work produced each year for the State Fair alone is tremendous, and requires many extra hours and weekends to make sure Fair visitors have access to daily programs. But the print shop maintains a busy workload throughout the year on numerous departmental printing projects.”
Members recognized were: Sherri Arnao of Angier, Gary Brock of Raleigh, Jason Cooke of Pine Level, Jaime Farmer of Raleigh, Floyd Hester of Wendell, David Pitt of Raleigh, David Poole of Wendell and Tommy Woodard of Kenly.
The print shop was recognized in particular for two printing projects in 2007 that exemplified the caliber of its work – the State Fair Daily Program and the 159-page book, N.C. Tobacco Trust Fund Commission, a Six-Year Retrospective.
The daily program won first place in the International Association of Fairs and Expositions’ competition for fairs with attendance between 500,000 and 1 million people. Members of the print shop staff worked with graphic designers to develop the most cost-effective size and design, which saved considerable paper and labor costs.
