Trust Fund Advisory Committee to meet Sept. 18
RALEIGH – The Agricultural Development and Farmland Preservation Trust Fund Advisory Committee will conduct a business meeting at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, at the Eaddy Agronomic Building, 4300 Reedy Creek Road. The meeting is open to the public.
Committee members will discuss proposed procedures governing the application process and allocation of money from the trust fund.
The trust fund received an $8 million appropriation from the General Assembly during the 2007 legislation session. The funding will be used to assist efforts by counties and nonprofit organizations to protect farmland in North Carolina.
The ADFP Trust Fund Advisory Committee advises Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler on the prioritization and allocation of money from the trust fund, program planning, and other areas for the growth and development of family farms in North Carolina. Members include farmers and representatives of agricultural organizations, state agencies and universities. More information is available at www.ncadfp.org
