RALEIGH - Amanda Meares of Zebulon was recently named the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services' December Employee of the Month as much for her design skills as her superb attitude, said Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler. Troxler presented Meares with a plaque and polo shirt at a staff meeting.
A co-worker nominated Meares for her work on numerous projects, which she completed with enthusiasm, creativity and patience. "Amanda is very excited about the projects she is assigned and works to educate herself on the topic, including researching crops and visiting facilities to understand the program," Troxler said.
Meares began work for the NCDAC&S Statistics Division in February 2005 as a graphic designer. She works on logo development, exhibits and signage, publication design and other materials. She also works with state and federal departments of agriculture on different projects, as well as colleges with ties to NCDA&CS.
Meares is a native of Wake County. She graduated from East Wake High School and currently resides in Zebulon. She has a bachelor's degree from the N.C. State University College of Design. In her spare time, Meares enjoys the fine arts, photography, reading, swimming and spending time with her family and friends.
