Down Home Goodness From Down Home Folks

In 1995, we purchased a run down farm near where we both were raised. We moved into the old farmhouse soon as we were married. We tore down many old barns, worked the badly overgrown fields and got them to producing good size vegetable crops and began selling corn, tomatoes and other vegetables during the summer with pumpkins in the fall.
In 1998, after two years of studying and planning, we put in our first acre of strawberries. We fixed up an old tobacco barn and started our strawberry business. We now have strawberries, blackberries, sweet corn and tomatoes. We hope that our customers love coming to our farm 'cause we love being here.
For the last 12 years, we've grown everything from strawberries to haunted corn. We've tried just about everything to know what works for us and what doesn't. Alot has changed for us over the years, personally and professionally. We no longer have the weekend textile job that we enjoyed that allowed us to "farm" during the week. And we no longer have the haunted corn "maze". What we do have is the desire to keep farming, a growing family, and a full-time job(for one of us at least).
In 2009, for personal reasons, we decided not to have our strawberry patch open. We had to take time to prioritize our life and focus on family. We will not have the strawberries again in 2010. However, we WILL have them in Spring, 2011. For 2010, we will have U-pick/We-pick blackberries, sweet corn and tomatoes.
