About OUR HONEY:

I am a commercial North Carolina beekeeper and my honeybees produce the wonderful natural aromatic and flavorful HONEY that we produce, pack and sell. We currently produce and sell two types of WILDFLOWER HONEY, and our specialty is Sourwood Honey. With hives in over 7 North Carolina counties from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the Central Piedmont we provide our North Carolina customers honey through selected Stores, and Mail Order via the World Wide Web with QUALITY RAW HONEY that is never heated nor filtered. We use only stainless steel and food grade plastics in our de-capping, extracting, clarifying, straining, and storage processes. We have a dedicated sanitary facility for packing and processing our honey.

Our Mail Order honey is bottled to order, which brings you the freshest quality, flavor and aroma possible.

I am an engineer and have worked for such high tech companies as Hughes Aircraft and Ford Aerospace. While there I learned the values of quality control and responsibility to the customer. These same concepts of quality are built into all our operations from hive assembly and management to bottling and packaging our quality products. We truly strive to produce the finest honey possible for our customers.

Our gentle method of processing HONEY is preferred by honey purists; it is often called RAW HONEY because it is never heated and only strained. It is the best most flavorful honey that you can buy! It is absolutely wonderful! When you read about the health benefits of local honey, raw honey, and honey high in antioxidants consider purchasing our HONEY, honey that is produced here in North Carolina.

Our honey prices are listed on the right side of your screen.

All of our Wildflower is processed in the same manner with the same amount of attention and care. This year our WILDFLOWER HONEY consists mostly of tulip poplar, black locust, black gum, wild blackberry, persimmon, and clover honey all randomly collected by our honeybees from most of our apiaries. It is a fine tasting honey that is medium amber in color.  Our Sourwood Honey is found at one of our Sourwood Honey Websites:

All Shipping & Handling information is located on the right column of this website under the honey prices. If you have any questions, please email or call and ask.

Our BEESWAX

I do not use any treatments on my hives; I use no chemical treatments, NO PESTICIDES, no pharmaceutical treatments, and no food supplements.

The only things that go into the hives are what the bees bring into their hives and the structural woodenware and beeswax foundation that enables the successful process of prudent beekeeping management. This is important to the folks buying beeswax as beeswax readily absorbs chemicals and contaminants and it does not discriminate good stuff from bad.. There are beekeepers using chemicals not legal that are nerve toxins (organophosphates) and many so called safe treatments seem to have adverse effects on honeybees. Many commercial beekeepers use chemicals and methods that are not FDA approved.

We strain our wax through cotton sweat shirt material as we have not found another natural fiber thick enough to offer the same degree of filtering of unwanted trash and then we pour the wax into molds per your order. After the wax has slightly cooled we release it from the mold then after additional cooling we weigh it.

Loose pieces are pieces of First-Run or Virgin Beeswax. As beeswax goes through additional melts the color and bouquet becomes whiter and less aromatic; it changes! Please see further information on the right column.

We also have propolis for sale.

SOURWOOD HONEY

Note:  The 2017 Sourwood Honey Crop was indeed fickle!

Our bees visited additional nectar sources during the 2017 sourwood honey flow thereby reducing the percentage of sourwood honey in any one super and frame of honey. I went through every frame of sourwood honey in order to find good frames of sourwood to sort but to no avail.

I always reply when asked if I sell pure sourwood honey 'that there is no such thing as pure sourwood honey" for when the worker honeybee returns from any one trip arriving back to her hive her harvest is almost immediately taken by another worker bee and the harvesting worker or the field bee returns to her nectar source. After receiving the field bee's nectar the hive bee then takes the nectar and places it in a honeycomb cell where it is deposited along with the harvest from hundreds, even thousands of field bees. Usually (most of the time) the hives in a beeyard or apiary will harvest a high percentage of sourwood nectar that is changed into sourwood honey by the honeybees. This year was different! Although we used prudent methods of varietal protection by the placement and timing of our hive stands as well as the preparation of providing and placing empty frames of honey in our honey supers at the beginning and end of the sourwood honey flow our bees in every single hive in every sourwood honey apiary decided to also visit other nectar sources as well as the sourwood blossoms all at the same time resulting in a harvest that is estimated as having about a 60% content of sourwood honey. You can still taste the sourwood and it is still buttery but the taste, color, zing, and flavor has been reduced. It has been reduced so much that I have lowered the prices of our sourwood honey to reflect this change from our norm:
