Big Ed's Hot Sauce first came to be served as an add-on at Pulliam's Barbeque in Ogburn Station, a suburb of Winston-Salem, NC near Smith-Reynolds Airport. Pulliam's was established in 1910.
Pulliam's Barbeque had an employee, Ed Flynt, who formulated Big Ed's Hot Sauce in 1945 and served it as an add-on in ketchup bottles on hotdogs and barbeques. Ed Flynt bought Pulliam's Barbeque in 1958 from John Pulliam, his first cousin. He worked at Pulliam's Barbeque for about 54 years.
Early in the 1990's, Big Ed Flynt and his wife Helen along with their two children, Gayla Posey and Mark Flynt, who now run the business, had Big Ed's Hot Sauce bottled, labeled, boxed, and made available for sale to the general public. Big Ed's Hot Sauce is available in two strengths, Extremely Hot(original) and Mildly Hot.
From 40E and 40W, take 52N to the Liberty Street/Airport Exit. Stay in the right lane as this will take you exactly where you need to go. Pass the airport, go over the bridge, and bear to the right on Old Walkertown Road. On the left will be a CCB Bank, Army-Surplus store, small shopping center and a tire store. We are the green and white striped building beside the car wash.

During daylight savings time, our hours are Tuesday-Saturday 10 AM-6 PM.
Non-daylight savings time: Tuesday - Saturday 10 AM-5:30 PM.
We are closed on Sunday and Monday and Holidays. You may call us or hear the recording on our answering machine if you are unsure whether we are open or not.
