Authentic artisan breads baked in our own wood fired brick oven.
After 25 + years of baking pizza and breads for family and friends, in 2008 we decided to investigate the possibility of building a wood fired brick oven to bake in. After a 10 day trip to New England to visit individuals and businesses using wood fired ovens to bake in, we were ready to begin our own.
Plans from Australia were found online that replicated the type of oven we envisioned. Once the plans arrived, the search for materials began. After about six months of labor, the oven was ready for it's first small fire. The pizzas and breads, and anything we bake come out wonderful in this true "convection" oven.
All of our flour is from Lindley Mills in Graham, NC. We bake various breads using local fruits, herbs, nuts, vegetables, and honey as much as possible. Breads are available here at Fair Meadow , and freeze well, since we use no preservatives in any of our products.
Naturally leavened white, whole wheat,multi grain & rye breads, as well as sprouted whole wheat bread and ciabatta bread. Other varieties available weekly.
Hwy 73 E to Hahn-Scott Rd . Take Hahn-Scott Rd to Bowman Barrier Rd ,then turn left. Cauble Rd will be on your right, we are at 4175 on the left. The brick oven can be seen from the road. If it is a baking day watch for the smoke!
