Our History
After purchasing the property from the estate of a Mr. Pigg in the 1990s, our current owner, Mrs. Joni Wellman, and her husband decided that the location would be a great place to start an “Old Time General Store” and thus The Butter Bean Village Market was born. The building itself has quite a colorful history. Originally built by Mr. Pigg as a gas station in the 1950s that closed in 1972 after an unsuccessful robbery attempt, it has since been leased to several entrepreneurs. The store has been a pool hall, a bar, and a gril

local produce, goat soap, goat and cow cheese, grass fed beef, local poultry, local eggs, NC wines, seasonal fruit, pimento cheese, local made salsa, NC organic roasted coffee
