About
Us:
Nearly five years after the legendary Guy Parker's Barbeque Restaurant closed
its doors in 2005 after a 43 year run, online reviews confirm the restaurant's
status as one of the top barbeque restaurants in North Carolina barbeque
history. Now, Guy Parker's renowned BBQ sauce is available for distribution
to a new generation of barbeque and food connoisseurs.
Guy Parker opened Guy Parker's Barbeque Restaurant 48 years ago on August
12, 1962 in Goldsboro, North Carolina (Wayne County). Guy Parker's Barbeque
Restaurant was a thriving family business serving lunch and dinner to the
community of Goldsboro and surrounding areas. The restaurant served a full
menu of pit-cooked whole pigs cooked on top of smoldering coals of oak
wood, in addition to barbeque chicken, seafood, and homemade side dishes.
Not only did Guy Parker deliver a mouth-watering experience for his diners,
he established the ,first desegregated dining establishment in the region. At
the time Guy opened his restaurant, public facilities were still segregated in
Goldsboro, NC. Guy Parker’s Barbeque Restaurant became the first restaurant
in Wayne County where Blacks could sit down and eat alongside Whites in a
public establishment. Guy did not know at the time that he was making
history by allowing Blacks and Whites to dine together in his restaurant. Guy
Parker’s Barbeque Restaurant had always been a place where there were no
color lines and people of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds could come
together over his famous pit-cooked pork BBQ, fall-off-the-bone
barbeque chicken, seafood, and homemade side dishes.
Guy along with his wife, Yvonne, operated Guy Parker’s Barbeque Restaurant
for 43 years. The restaurant closed in 2005 after Guy became ill with cancer.
However, Guy’s specially formulated sauce, used to make his famous pit-cooked
barbeque and chicken, is still available to consumers.
John Parker, Guy’s youngest son, continues his father’s heritage by bringing
Guy Parker’s Barbeque Sauce to the market so people across the globe can enjoy
the all natural goodness and flavor of Guy’s sauce at home. It is a universal
complement to a wide array of foods, from pork and poultry to seafood and
vegetables, just as it was when Guy Parker’s Restaurant was still a regional
destination.
Demand for Guy Parker’s famous BBQ sauce continues to grow. We hope
you will consider making your mark in history by purchasing Guy Parker’s famous
BBQ sauce to enhance your favorite foods and recipes.
