Originally, we planted a blueberry patch to supplement the family menu. Soon, the bushes were producing enough to supply the neighborhood. After a fire burned several acres of pine trees, we replanted a half acre with blueberries. This was the start of A Blueberry Farm.
A Blueberry farm is run by John Boaze along with the assistance of his wife, children and grandchildren. The bushes are located beside the family's business office, providing colorfull foliage throughout the year as well as summer snacks for the office staff.
Approximately 150 adult bushes provide the majority of the crop, with younger bushes in various stages of development also producing. There are nine varities of blueberries on the farm, ripening from late June through to frost. The farm is primarily a U-Pick field, but orders are taken and filled for those who are not able to pick for themselves.
Take US 74 to the Whittier exit #72. Turn left, pass the Post Office, and cross the river. Turn left and then right onto Tarhelia Heights. Drive 1/2 mile to Water Tower Lane. A Blueberry Farm is located at 25 Water Tower Lane.
