Red Wolf Farm

For the Health of It.

About Us
We are a family homestead farm with an emphasis on sustainable agriculture. We are located in the foothills of NC on 45 beautiful acres of rolling hills, farmland and forest with a large creek flowing through. Our farm was the site for the Jenny Lind Iron Forge that operated from 1804 to around 1890. Remnants of the dam, and large pieces of iron slag from the forging process can still be found in the creek. In June 2009, Josh and Dr. Grant quit their day jobs to focus full time on opening their farm to the public, as Catawba County's first ever Educational Farm Experience. It had been their goal for many years, but they thought they would have to wait till retirement age to do it full time. The opportunity arose, and they went full steam ahead with their project. Dr. Grant was raised eating homegrown beef and vegetables from her family's farm. She realized most children have never tasted "real" food that she knew was so wonderful. Being a doctor, she also saw many negative effects that children's diets had on their health, and she wanted to do something about it. Dr. Grant has extensive education in health and nutrition, and loves teaching people about the benefits of eating food that comes straight from the local, all-natural farms, and avoiding factory raised, artificial food. Dr. Grant also holds a degree in zoology. She not only teaches children about the animals on the farm, but also the animals that live in the creek and woods that adjoin the farm. Red Wolf Farm is a well-rounded educational experience that you will get nowhere else.

We are not a large "production" farm that mass produces one or two main products. Rather, we are trying to live as sustainably as we can by producing as much of our food on our farm as we can. We do not use chemical herbicides or fertilizers. Our animals are hormone and antibiotic free, and do not eat medicated feed. Our goal is to educate kids on how to live sustainably, the science of farming, and how what they eat affects their health. Red Wolf Farm supports the Local Food Movement. We are a Got To Be NC Farm!
